ACE Collective

A six-month cohort-based economic development experience for influential anchor creatives and entrepreneurs (ACEs) motivated to be history-making anchors in the SOMA Pilipinas District Commercial Corridor

Sponsored by Office of Economic and Workforce Development and Kultivate Labs

We are reimagining the future of a vibrant and sustainable Filipino Cultural District that reflects the energy & diversity of the SF Bay Area.

Think Making the Band, but it’s all collaboration and no competition. And going on tour is more like participating in a season of high-touch, high-collaboration pop-up activations in vacant spaces, with an aim to convert concepts into long-term leases and the next generation of neighborhood anchors.

San Francisco is going through an unprecedented transition. Traditional neighborhood anchors have vacated as a result of the impact of the pandemic.

What used to be primary drivers of commerce in a neighborhood like SOMA (like corporate work culture) no longer exist, leaving a ripe opportunity to reimagine what and who pulls people in to gather. Through newly developed real estate partnerships and grant providers, we have a unique and timely opportunity to build the neighborhood of our dreams.

But our dreams can only be as vibrant as the group involved at this stage of rebuilding.

This is where the next generation of anchors comes in.

The ACE Collective is designed to light up the neighborhood all at once

We are bringing together the first season of new anchors who will serve as the model for innovative archetypes of connection and cultural programming. We’re moving away from the individualist approach and instead integrating community building + neighborhood zoning practices.

We’re curating a mixed cohort that represents the evolving diverse needs and desires of the local neighborhood. And we’re leveraging and power activating all at once to mitigate the risk of being the first and only, increasing the joy of pursuing a bolder and brighter future together

Vision for Impact

Through their collective efforts, ACEs will engage in pop-up activations that reimagine the post-pandemic neighborhood experience and the balanced lifestyle of entrepreneurship and creative independence.

Their leadership and contributions will pave the way for a thriving cultural hub in the SOMA Pilipinas commercial corridor that celebrates our rich heritage, integrates intergenerational and intersectional perspectives, and inspires generations to come.

Program Components

Over a six-month period, ACEs will have access to the following programming. All of the components listed are designed to be additive, naturally weaving into an ACE’s existing workflows to reduce stress and boost impact.
