The SOMA Business Accelerator 2024


The SOMA Business Accelerator is designed to make dramatic performance improvements to the 4 businesses we admit to our 6th cohort.

Businesses in the co-hort receive FREE custom consulting to dramatically improve the performance of their businesses.

These are not classes. We bring top notch professionals in these fields to upgrade / build new infrastructure or assets to move your business forward.

How does the Program Work?

  1. Once admitted to the program, business owners meet with the Executive Director and SEED staff to discuss their business goals. The Kultivate Labs staff will then develop an IDP (Individual Development Plan)

  2. Business Owners will be paired with a pre-screened professional service provider who will help them with 1 project.

    (Projects have ranged from a new website, a refreshed logo, to a new accounting system, to PR services, to more. The time spent by the professional service provider to perform the work is completely FREE.)

  3. Businesses in the co-hort will meet 1x a month with Kultivate Labs staff + as many times as necessary with their professional service provider.

*All projects will be completed by June 1st 2024.


Eligibility

The SOMA Business Accelerator program is aimed to help businesses who are committed to the development of the SoMa Pilipinas cultural district of San Francisco. To be eligible for the program, your business:

  1. Must be based in SoMa in the zip code 94103.

  2. Must have a physical footprint in the zip code 94103.

  3. Must be currently in operation and have been operating for at least 1 year.

Requirements

In order to foster a successful program experience for all participants, we ask our participants for the following:

  • Transparency. If selected, you must provide financial statements so we can help track performance improvements. We also ask for your active, honest communication throughout the program so we can best serve your needs.

  • Commitment. Participants must attend monthly meetings with SEED project managers and other cohort programming, which include the program's Opening and Closing celebrations and other recurring events.

 FAQs

  • The SOMA Business Accelerator is funded by the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development’s SOMA Stabilization Fund which has a mission to support the growth of the SOMA community which are defined by these zip code boundaries.

  • Because we have limited funds and can’t help all businesses, we are limiting our support for businesses that are in operation. To prove 1 year of operation, we’ll need to see 1 or more of the following:

    -Business bank statements showing inflows and outflows

    -POS reports showing sales activity

    -Social media posts

  • Unfortunately, your business must be in the district to qualify.

  • Unfortunately, this program is for businesses that have a physical footprint in SoMa.

  • If your business has a lease for an office and / or registered in SoMa, then your business qualifies.

  • Tech start-ups are not eligible for this program.

  • Due to limited funds and staff capacity, we are admitting up to 4 businesses in this current co-hort.

  • In the past businesses have received legal incorporation services, branding, website redesign, business coaching, and PR support.

  • Yes, past participants in the program are still eligible to participate as long as your business is still located in the zip codes of 94103.
